I've Been Tagged

Sally and Julie tagged me to tell 6 weird things about myself. Well, quite a few people say I'm just weird full stop lol, but here goes:-

1. I'm scared of the dark. I can't go upstairs in my own home without putting a light on, such a wuss.
2. I used to love Frosties cereal with a little bit of milk on, then loads of Carnation Evaporated Milk over the top! I haven't had it in years, but the thought now makes my teeth tingle lol, yuck, so sickly!
3. I love tomato soup, tomato sauce, tomato based sauces on pizza, pasta etc, but I HATE fresh tomatoes lol.
4. I'm totally anal about how things are laid out on desk/cupboard tops. Ornaments have to be spaced equally apart and things have to be straight, so they sit the same distance away from each corner.
5. No matter what side of the bed I sleep on, I have to sleep facing the outside. I can't sleep facing someone.
6. I can tell you to the penny how much money we have at anytime. Due to my dad going bankrupt when I was a child I am paranoid about money and religiously check our incomings and outgoings once a week to make sure things are ok. DH thinks it's over cautious, but I never want to feel like I did when I was a child and we lost our house.

Can't think of who to tag right now, so will do that later.

Soooo Fed Up

I have been having trouble with my eyesight for a couple of months now, don't know if some of you will remember me going for a sight test or not. Anyway, the sight test came back ok, but I've still been worrying myself over it as my sight just didn't feel right if you know what I mean.
Well, the other day I realised that my glasses were coming apart at the joint over the nose, and because of this my glasses aren't sitting properly on my face, leading to the strange sight.
So I talked to DH about it who agreed I needed to get some new glasses ordered before these broke, or I'd be in trouble. You see I am very short sighted and only have contact lenses for socialising etc, they aren't up to the task for close work.
I knew they would be expensive as I have to get special lenses made as they would be really thick otherwise. And because of that they take a while to make.
Anyway, my glasses broke at work yesterday morning, can't be fixed, can't get new frames for the lenses to go in, and will take at least 2 weeks for new ones to come. They are going to cost at least £250, probably a good bit more, which we haven't got. And in the meantime I've got to wear my contact lenses everyday that aren't my correct prescription, and which make my eyes sore.
And to top it all off I don't think I can stitch with my lenses in....
I just want to go home and go to bed and cry and then sleep until my new glasses arrive.

Happy Birthday Too Me!

I really wasn't looking forward to today after my Birthday last year being a complete disaster, so I've been very pleasantly surprised.
First of all this morning DD came in to wish me a happy birthday, and then DH put loads of pressies on our bed! I had placed an order with DSL and Sew & So for some stash from DH, so knew what I was getting, but he'd opened the packages and wrapped everything separately for me, plus he'd got me a little smarties choc cake.
Then when I got to work they had put banners up for me and when everyone had arrived they appeared with a tiny cake with a candle on for me to blow out!
I got some vouchers from my mum and aunt, and my friends at work, which I got myself a new watch and a computer game with.
Julie had sent me some pennies the other week to get myself a subscription to The Gift Of Stitching Magazine with as I'm on the wagon, so I subscribed to that this morning. And Sally sent me a Gift Certificate to EHandcrafts so I can choose more stash!
I've also had some lovely emails and messages on the BB's from my wonderful stitching friends (hugs).
So today has been a really nice Birthday, better than I ever expected, filled with stash and greetings from special people.
Now, on instructions from Julie, I'm off to watch a movie, have a glass of wine and some chocs!

Catching Up With WIP Pics

I finally managed to finish page 2 of my Tomboy QS last night, after having two nights not stitching at all. I know last night was supposed to be my Eeyore Rug, but I really wanted to get page 2 finished, so will work on the rug tonight instead.
I've also taken pics of the rug and my Waxing Moon Simply Spring wip as they are at the moment. I'm really happy with the way things are going with my rotation right now, barring having to swap my days around a bit now and again. I can see progress on everything I'm working on, and I'm not getting bored!
Now, come Tuesday and my Birthday when I can open my stash orders from DH that might change lol! I've got this awful feeling that once I get to drool over my new pretties I'm going to want a new start, so I'm going to be relying on you all to keep me under control until I get some things finished! hehe
I also think once my Birthday is over the reality of the Wagon is going to set in. It hasn't bothered me this past few days, knowing I've got something to look forward to, but I know it's going to kick in soon and then I'll be in big trouble lol

A Clean Sweep

Well, I finally managed to get DH to get the boxes for the xmas decorations out of the loft today, so I've just finished up taking down all the ones in the lounge, dusting, polishing and returning it to it's pre-xmas tidyness and calmness. It's so nice to sit here now and see the clutter gone again, I've got my stitching haven back, yay!
The dining room, hallway and outside are still to do, but DH will have to help with those on Sunday when he's finished his night shifts, as it needs the step ladders which I WON'T go up lol.
Stitching wise I had to rejig the rotation again after Monday nights session on the rug. By the time I went to bed my arm and hand were really hurting and I couldn't get to sleep because of it. There is no way I can do every other night on the rug I think, so have changed AGAIN so that I will do Mon & Fri on the rug, and Tue, Wed, Thur on Tomboy QS, so I have a good break in between. I'm quite happy with this as these are the two projects I want to get finished first, so should make good progress on them, and still have my weekends to play with my smaller projects.
I did a little on Tomboy last night and tonight, and am actually really enjoying it, although I haven't done any of the blending filament in this section yet so that could be why lol. I am going to have to bit the bullet and do a chunk of that tomorrow night I think.
I finally got an email from Amy at DSL. I don't know what the problem is but I seem to have real trouble getting her emails, they always go missing in cyberspace. Anyway, only one chart that I ordered is out of stock and the rest should be shipped by Sat at the latest, so I'm a happy bunny as they should be here by my Birthday!!!
On the wagon front, I am on day 3 and doing well lol. Have been very tempted with everyone talking about the online mag Gift Of Stitching and the gorgeous design in this month's issue with the LHN/CCN bee pinkeep in it, but I was determined to be good. I did get approval from Sally that I could buy it with my birthday money if I got some, or could ask for it as a present. Anyway, naughty Julie (Magnet hehe) send me a little early pressie today so that I can get myself the subscription on my Birthday! Thank you SO much Julie, you're very naughty and I will get my revenge at some point in the future, but I love ya! Julie asked me tonight if I'd already subscribed, but I'm determined to wait til my Birthday then I've got something else to look forward to and can drool over my first issue of the mag on the day!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all my friends and blog readers, hope it's a really good one for you.
Last night I had another new start to add to my rotation for the weekends in January, Waxing Moon's Simply Spring. I had been working out a rotation for January and had planned to do my latch hook rug Mon-Fri, with weekends as free choice, and then San Man's Take Time To Giggle as my handbag project. But after spending two nights in a row on the rug my right hand and arm really hurt, and I remembered why I'd put it away before. So then I modified the rotation plan to be Mon, Wed, Fri on the rug, and Tue & Thur on QS Tomboy which was going to be my focus once the rug is done. Happy with that decision I was then thinking of what I would stitch on a weekend, and looking at all my other WIP's they are all large except for my handbag project, which I don't want to do on a weekend as well. So that gave me an excuse for a new start! It's off my list of planned things for 2007 so that feels good. I kitted it up during the day yesterday and made a start when DD had gone to bed and DH had gone to work. I managed to stitch the R & I and a bunny before my eyes started to get heavy, so I'm really hoping that if it carries on stitching up so well I might be able to finish it before the mystery SAL I'm starting in Feb, which will be my weekend stitching then I think.
I placed an order with DSL during the timing of their 35% off sale on Saturday morning, for DH to give me for my birthday, but I've still not heard anything from Amy and I'm really worried now. Was reading on the TS BB that others have had confirmation from her, and I ordered before them. I've emailed her again a couple of times asking for a response but still nothing. Knowing my luck my order will have gone missing in cyberspace. I have got the auto confirmation, but if everything I've ordered has been allocated to others I'm going to end up with nothing for my Birthday. Baah humbug....
